Variability and dimensional diversity are achieved by arranging the apartments
in such a way that different building sizes are obtained. The houses in the residential block formation system form a unique morphotype with individual courtyard areas with a garden and household outbuildings for each apartment, which flank the residential blocks to increase the level of involvement and responsibility to the environment. All three residential blocks are linked by a multi-scenic pedestrian promenade.
Rectangular-shaped residential sections of various sizes with a four-pitched roof, without overhangs. Clean floor level of residential sections +150 mm from the ground level, without porches, high basements, etc. which allows for a low height, up to 10 meters from ground level.
The settlement of Solovki is famous for its harsh, but therefore beautiful nature and landscape. The atmosphere of russian village life has been preserved there, so the area evokes associations with bylinas and tales illustrated by Bilibin, Nesterov and other masters. That’s why the visuals of the project are inspired by the sentiments of russian north and rustic asceticism and the monochrome nature of the images gives an atmosphere of coldness but solidarity in front of the harshness of the place.
